CA 19‑9 is a serum tumor marker elevated in a large percentage of patients with gastrointestinal tumors, particularly pancreatic, liver, gastric, and colorectal malignancies. It may be useful for monitoring disease activity or predicting relapse following treatment; however, it should not be used as a screening test.
