Ceruloplasmin
Also known as: Ferroxidase, Copper Binding Globulin
Use
Used in the investigation of patients with possible Wilson’s disease, fulminant liver failure, intestinal malabsorption, renal failure resulting in proteinuria, chronic active hepatitis, and malnutrition. Ceruloplasmin is a copper‐oxidase (ferroxidase) protein synthesized by the liver that carries the majority of circulating copper, and abnormal levels may reflect disturbances in copper metabolism or liver function.
