Early Sjogren’s Syndrome Profile (93748)
Use
This test is intended to detect early serologic markers of Sjögren’s syndrome by measuring specific antibodies—including IgG, IgA, and IgM isotypes—for Carbonic Anhydrase VI (CA VI), Parotid Specific Protein (PSP), and Salivary Protein 1 (SP‑1). It serves as an early screening tool in patients with symptoms of dry eyes and mouth or suspected autoimmune exocrinopathy.
Special Instructions
Performed approximately once every two weeks (typically Mondays). Specimen may be collected in red‑top tube (no additive) or serum separator tube (SST) and refrigerated or frozen during transport. Intended for outpatient or inpatient collection. Not a genetic test. Performing lab is Quest (Immco Diagnostics).
Limitations
This is not a genetic test; results depend on antibody detection which may yield false negatives especially early in disease course. Turnaround time can be considerably longer than routine ANA or SSA/SSB panels and may vary. Specimen rejection may occur due to gross hemolysis, lipemia, or icterus.
