ER/PR, Paraffin Block
Also known as: Progesterone Receptor, ER/PR, Estrogen Receptor, ERA/PRA
Use
Determination of estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) expression on formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded tumor tissue is essential in breast cancer management. ER is a key predictive biomarker guiding benefit from endocrine therapies, while PR indicates estrogen pathway functionality and may provide additional prognostic information.
Special Instructions
Submit a formalin‑fixed, routinely processed paraffin‑embedded tissue block, along with one H&E‑stained histologic section and five unstained freshly cut sections on positively charged slides. Do not oven‑dry unstained slides. Include completed Test Requisition, original requisition, and pathology report. Indicate collection date/time, cold ischemia time, fixative type (if not formalin), and fixation duration. Ship blocks wrapped individually in cooled container; slides at ambient or cool temperature.
