This test detects the HR2 allele in the F5 gene (Factor V), specifically aimed at identifying coinheritance of Factor V Leiden mutation and the HR2 allele. Coinheritance is associated with a 3- to 4‑fold increased risk of venous thrombosis compared to Factor V Leiden alone. Useful for diagnosis and screening in individuals known to carry Factor V Leiden.
