Garlic F47 IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test measures specific IgE antibodies to garlic (allergen code F47) in order to evaluate a patient's allergic sensitization to this allergen. It is important for the diagnosis of garlic allergy in the context of an appropriate clinical presentation, which may include symptoms like rhinitis, asthma, urticaria, and anaphylaxis upon garlic exposure.
Special Instructions
This test is intended for individuals with suspected garlic allergy, providing insight into IgE-mediated sensitization.
Limitations
A positive test result indicates sensitization to garlic but does not confirm clinical allergy. The results should be interpreted with consideration of the patient’s clinical history. False negatives may occur, and a negative result does not rule out the possibility of an allergic response. Cross-reactivity with other Allium species may also influence results.
