Hepatitis B Surface Antibody, Qualitative
Use
Qualitative measurement of hepatitis B surface antibody (anti‑HBs) to determine whether an individual has immunity to hepatitis B virus, either due to past infection or vaccination. A reactive (“immune”) result indicates presumed immunity, whereas a nonreactive (“non‑immune”) result suggests lack of immunity and may prompt further evaluation or vaccination. May also aid in laboratory diagnosis when assessed alongside additional hepatitis B serologic markers.
