Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) Antibody, IgG
Use
Qualitative detection of IgG antibodies to Hepatitis E virus (HEV), which typically indicates past exposure or remote infection. HEV is uncommon in the U.S. but should be considered in patients with symptoms of acute viral hepatitis who test negative for other common hepatitis viruses or who have traveled to endemic regions.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Interpretation of IgG indicates prior exposure and does not distinguish between remote or resolved infection; cross-reactivity with other viral antigens is possible; not intended to diagnose acute HEV infection — IgM testing may be required to identify recent or active infection.
