Use
This test determines the presence of high‑risk HPV genotypes 16 and 18/45 in anal‑rectal specimens, helping identify patients at increased risk for HPV‑associated anal cancers or lesions.
Special Instructions
Anal‑rectal specimens are validated in a liquid cytology medium (PreservCyt® or similar), per Quest’s Infectious Disease laboratory. Collection devices and specimen transport instructions follow Aptima® HPV mRNA protocols adapted for anal‑rectal use.
Limitations
Performance and reference ranges are based on validation studies using anal‑rectal specimens; results may not be generalizable to other specimen types. False negatives may occur with low cellularity or improper specimen collection. Reflex testing and validation caveats apply as defined by Quest’s Infectious Disease protocols.
