QuantiFERON‑TB Gold Plus, 1 Tube
Also known as: QFT Gold Plus, IGRA, QFT Plus, TB Gold, QFT TB
Use
QuantiFERON‑TB Gold Plus (QFT‑Plus) is an interferon‑gamma release assay (IGRA), an in vitro diagnostic test intended as an aid in the diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection (including both latent TB infection and disease). It detects interferon‑gamma released by T cells in response to peptide antigens (ESAT‑6 and CFP‑10) using ELISA methodology, thereby supporting TB infection assessment in conjunction with clinical evaluation, risk assessment, and radiographic studies. Not affected by BCG vaccination and offers advantages over tuberculin skin test like reduced reader bias, one‑visit collection, and fewer follow‑ups.

Limitations
Per the package insert, the magnitude of measured IFN‑γ cannot be correlated to stage or degree of infection, immune responsiveness, or risk of progression to active disease. Positive antigen response in the context of a negative mitogen control is rare but possible, indicating limitations of immune control tube interpretation and the potential for indeterminate results. Results must always be interpreted along with clinical and laboratory context.
