Respiratory Allergy Profile Region XI
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test is intended to identify specific respiratory allergens that may cause allergic reactions in patients located in Region XI, which includes areas like the AZ Mountains, CO, ID Mountains, MT, NM, UT, and WY. The test aids in diagnosing allergic conditions by measuring the presence of specific antibodies associated with allergic reactions to local allergens such as pollen, dust, and pet dander.
Special Instructions
Patients are advised to avoid antihistamines for at least 24 hours prior to the test. Coordinate with local laboratories for sample collection. Ensure that specimens are labeled according to Quest Diagnostics guidelines.
Limitations
Results may be affected by the presence of corticosteroids or other immunosuppressants which can reduce antibody levels. False negatives may occur in patients with immunoglobulin deficiencies. Cross-reactivity with non-target substances may occasionally result in false positives.
