Tree Nut Allergy Panel with Reflex to Components
Also known as: Nut Mix, Mixed Nut Allergen Panel, ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test measures immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies to certain tree nut and peanut allergens (almond, Brazil nut, cashew, hazelnut, macadamia nut, peanut, pecan, pistachio, walnut), helping to identify possible allergic responses. A positive result indicates the body has produced allergy-related antibodies, which may suggest a higher chance of allergy, though results should be interpreted by a healthcare provider in conjunction with clinical history and other findings.
Special Instructions
If results for peanut, hazelnut, walnut, Brazil nut, or cashew nut are abnormal, more specific component tests are performed automatically (reflex) on the same sample at no extra cost. No special preparation required. In‑person or mobile sample collection (Quest Mobile®) is available where permitted. Parental consent and presence required for patients under 18. Purchase is available direct-to-consumer without a doctor’s order.
Limitations
Results alone cannot confirm the diagnosis of an allergy or indicate its severity. Blood allergy test results may not match skin‑prick tests. Follow‑up with a healthcare provider is required for interpretation in the context of symptoms, medical history, and other tests.
