TSH with HAMA Treatment
Use
Provides measurement of thyroid‑stimulating hormone (TSH) both with and without treatment to remove human anti‑mouse antibodies (HAMA), which can interfere with immunoassay results; this ensures more accurate assessment of thyroid function when heterophilic antibody interference is suspected.
Special Instructions
Specimen collection should be delayed at least 3 days after fluorescein dye angiography and 2 weeks for patients on hemodialysis, per Siemens manufacturer guidance to avoid falsely depressed values when using the Advia Centaur TSH3 Ultra assay.
Limitations
Heterophilic antibodies such as HAMA can interfere with standard immunoassays, causing false high or low TSH values; samples containing fluorescein may produce falsely depressed results when tested with the Advia Centaur TSH3 Ultra assay.
