Zika Virus Antibody (IgM)
Use
The Zika Virus Antibody (IgM) test aids in the diagnosis of Zika virus infection by identifying IgM antibodies, which typically rise shortly after symptom onset and may persist for up to 12 weeks or longer. It is most useful when performed during the post-acute phase (several weeks after symptom onset). Cross-reactivity with other flaviviruses, such as dengue, West Nile, and yellow fever, may occur, necessitating clinical correlation and possibly confirmatory testing. Testing is typically used in conjunction with nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT) for viral RNA, particularly during the acute phase of infection.
