Use
The Acetazolamide Quantitative, Serum or Plasma test is used to measure the concentration of acetazolamide in the serum or plasma. Acetazolamide is a medication primarily used to treat glaucoma, epilepsy, altitude sickness, periodic paralysis, and heart failure. This test helps in monitoring the therapeutic levels of the drug, adjusting dosages, and ensuring patient safety by avoiding potential toxicity.
Special Instructions
Separate from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. The test is not performed at ARUP; separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by NMS Labs. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. The performance of the test has not been validated for all possible clinical settings.
