Use
The Allergen, Food, Bay Leaf IgE test is used to measure the concentration of IgE antibodies specific to bay leaf allergens in the blood. It helps in diagnosing allergic reactions related to bay leaf exposure. The test provides quantitative results that can be used to correlate with clinical findings and assess potential allergic responses, although concentrations do not always correlate with the degree of clinical response.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to prevent variability in results. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection and transferred to a standard transport tube. For multiple allergen orders, refer to specific collection instructions provided by ARUP.
Limitations
Results below 0.10 kU/L are considered to have no significant level detected, while levels between 0.10-0.34 kU/L have undetermined clinical significance. The test results do not always correlate with clinical symptoms or skin test reactivity, and a negative result does not rule out the possibility of an allergic reaction. Interpretation should consider clinical history and potential in vivo reactivity to allergens.
