Allergen, Food, Cauliflower IgE

Use
This test measures the levels of IgE antibodies to cauliflower allergens in the blood. It is intended for use in conjunction with a patient’s clinical history and other allergy testing methods. The results help healthcare providers assess the risk of IgE mediated allergic reactions to cauliflower, although the clinical significance for allergen-specific IgE levels between 0.10-0.34 kU/L remains undetermined. Increasing IgE levels may indicate higher allergen sensitivity, but they do not necessarily correlate with the severity of clinical allergic reactions or skin tests.
Special Instructions
Separate serum from cells as soon as possible, ideally within 2 hours of collection. Use an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for transportation. Serum separator tubes are required for collection.
Limitations
A negative test result does not exclude the possibility of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. The clinical relevance of allergen-specific IgE in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L is undetermined. IgE levels may not directly correlate with the severity of clinical symptoms when challenged with the allergen. Results should always be interpreted in the context of a patient’s clinical history and any in vivo testing.
