Use
The Allergen, Food, Gulf Flounder IgE test is used to detect the presence and concentration of IgE antibodies specific to Gulf Flounder allergens in the blood. This test helps in diagnosing allergic reactions specifically associated with Gulf Flounder. Increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may reflect higher levels of sensitivity; however, these may not always correspond to the clinical response or results from skin testing for specific allergens. Correlating laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens is essential for accurate diagnosis. A negative test result does not rule out the possibility of an allergy or even anaphylactic response.
Special Instructions
It's important to ensure adequate specimen volume for allergen testing. Multiple patient encounters should be avoided when preparing for this test. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible and no later than two hours after collection. Transfer the serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Limitations
The test measures IgE levels that may not directly correlate with the severity of clinical allergic reactions or skin test outcomes when exposed to the allergen. Results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are for specialist use as their clinical relevance is undetermined. Despite increasing specific IgE concentrations often indicating heightened sensitivity, they may not fully correspond to the actual clinical response. Negative results do not necessarily rule out the presence of allergies or the potential for anaphylaxis.
