Use
This test measures the level of allergen-specific IgE to onion. Allergen-specific IgE tests, including the ImmunoCAP® system, are used to aid in the clinical diagnosis of IgE mediated allergic disorders. These tests should be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's clinical history and other laboratory findings. The level of specific IgE in the blood has been shown to correlate with the probability of allergic disease.

Limitations
The correlation between in vitro allergen-specific IgE levels and clinical symptoms is variable. Low levels of IgE can be associated with significant allergic reactions, and high levels may not necessarily correlate with severity of symptoms. The test may not detect all individuals with clinical allergies or predict the occurrence and severity of reactions. A negative test does not rule out the potential for future allergic reactions or anaphylaxis.
