Use
The test is used to detect the presence and measure the concentration of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to peach in the serum. These antibodies indicate a potential allergic reaction to peach and can help in diagnosing peach allergies. However, the correlation of these results with clinical history is essential, as the concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results.
Special Instructions
The test is performed using a serum separator tube, and the serum must be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Multiple patient encounters should be avoided. Refer to the "Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions" for multiple allergen orders.
Limitations
A negative test result does not rule out the possibility of clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. The clinical relevance of allergen results between 0.10-0.34 kU/L is undetermined and intended for specialist use. Even though increasing ranges are reflective of increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE, these concentrations may not correlate precisely with clinical response or in vivo reactivity.
