Allergen, Food, Sesame Seed Component rSes i 1
Also known as: SESAME COM
Use
This test is used to quantify specific IgE levels for the allergen sesame seed component rSes i 1 using the ImmunoCAP Fluorescent Enzyme Immunoassay. These quantifications are beneficial for diagnosing potential IgE-mediated allergic responses to sesame seeds. Allergen results of 0.10-0.34 kU/L have clinical relevance which remains undetermined and should be utilized by specialists. The presence of increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not precisely correlate with the severity of clinical reactions or predict allergy challenge test outcomes.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The results of the allergen-specific IgE test do not always correlate directly with the severity of clinical symptoms or with results from other methods such as skin testing. A negative result does not rule out the possibility of a clinical allergy or anaphylaxis to the sesame allergen. Interpretation of laboratory results should be combined with clinical evaluations, including patient history and all in vivo reactivity tests to specific allergens.
