Allergen, Fungi and Molds, Botrytis cinerea IgE

Use
This test measures allergen-specific IgE antibodies to Botrytis cinerea, a type of mold. It is used to aid in the diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic diseases such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, and other hypersensitivity reactions. The test quantifies IgE antibodies, which can support the diagnosis and help guide management and treatment of allergic conditions.
Special Instructions
Ensure proper handling and storage of specimens. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens are unacceptable. Use the specified serum separator tube for collection, and transfer serum to the ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Limitations
Results must be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history and other diagnostic findings. A low IgE concentration may still be clinically significant. The correlation between IgE concentration and clinical response or skin test results is not absolute. A negative result does not rule out allergy or anaphylaxis. For results between 0.10-0.34 kU/L, clinical relevance is undetermined and should be interpreted by a specialist.
