Use

This test measures the levels of IgG antibodies specific to the allergens Helminthosporium halodes and Setomelanomma rostrata, which are types of fungi and molds. It is used to evaluate exposure to these specific allergens and may aid in the assessment of allergic diseases or conditions related to mold exposure. A quantitative ImmunoCAP Fluorescent Enzyme Immunoassay is utilized, which allows for the detection and quantification of these specific IgG antibodies in serum. The test is important for identifying patients who may have an allergic response to these molds.

Special Instructions

Ensure adequate serum volume for testing by following the specimen collection and handling instructions thoroughly. For proper processing, separate serum from cells as soon as possible, ideally within two hours of collection. This test is not New York state approved, and specimens from New York clients will be forwarded to a state-approved laboratory.

Limitations

The test is designed to detect IgG antibodies specific to Helminthosporium halodes and Setomelanomma rostrata using a quantitative immunoassay method. The presence of these antibodies does not necessarily correlate with clinical symptoms; rather, it indicates exposure to the allergens. Values below 2.00 mcg/mL indicate absent or very low allergen-specific IgG levels, which may not be clinically significant. The test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA but is performed in a CLIA certified laboratory. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens are inappropriate and can lead to inaccurate results.
