Use
This test measures the level of IgE antibodies specific to Hormodendrum (Cladosporium), a type of mold, to aid in the diagnosis of mold allergies. The concentration of IgE may provide information about the clinical severity of an allergic reaction to this specific mold but must be correlated with clinical history and other diagnostic testing, including skin tests.
Special Instructions
Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection and transfer it to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. For patients requiring multiple allergen tests, please refer to the "Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions" available at the given website link.
Limitations
Results of IgE antibody levels, even at higher concentrations, may not directly correlate with the severity of an allergic response. The test may return negative even if the patient experiences allergic symptoms or anaphylaxis to Hormodendrum mold. Clinical correlation with patient history and other diagnostic methods is strongly recommended.
