Use
This test measures allergen-specific IgE to Penicillium notatum and is used to evaluate the presence of an allergic response to this specific mold. Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided during specimen collection to ensure accuracy. Serum collection should be done using a serum separator tube, and the serum should be separated from the cells within two hours of collection to prevent degradation.
Limitations
While this test can detect the presence of allergen-specific IgE, it does not predict the severity of allergic reactions. Results may not correlate with clinical symptoms or skin test results. Laboratory results must be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history, and a negative result does not rule out the possibility of an allergy or anaphylaxis.
