Use
This test measures the levels of allergen-specific IgG antibodies to Phoma betae, a type of mold. Elevated levels of IgG antibodies may indicate exposure or sensitization to this allergen, aiding in the diagnosis of mold-related allergies and informing treatment plans for patients with allergic sensitivity. Values less than 2.00 mcg/mL represent absent or undetectable levels of allergen-specific IgG.
Special Instructions
This test requires a serum sample collected in a serum separator tube (SST). Separation of the serum from cells should occur as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
This test is not FDA cleared or approved, and it is not New York state-approved. It is important to note that the test results should not be used as the sole basis for an allergic disease diagnosis without corroborating clinical data. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens may be rejected.
