Use
This test measures allergen-specific IgE levels to Dermatophagoides microceras (a type of house dust mite) to assist in diagnosing allergic sensitivities. It helps in understanding whether a person may experience allergic reactions when exposed to this specific mite allergen. The test is critical for patients presenting symptoms of allergic reactions, such as rhinitis, asthma, or atopic dermatitis, particularly when there is a suspicion of dust mite allergy.

Multiple patient encounters should be avoided for accurate results. It is important to correlate lab results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens for a comprehensive diagnosis. Limitations
Allergen-specific IgE concentrations do not always correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing outcomes. Even with high IgE levels, some patients may not exhibit symptoms unless challenged with the allergen in a controlled environment. Results within the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L should be interpreted with caution as their clinical relevance is undetermined; specialist consultation is recommended. Additionally, a negative test does not exclude the possibility of clinical allergy or anaphylactic reactions.
