Use
The Allergen, Region 2 Respiratory Panel IgE test is designed for patients in the mid-Atlantic region, covering Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, and North Carolina. It quantifies allergen-specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels to various regional allergens, helping in diagnosing allergic sensitization and managing allergy symptoms. The panel aids healthcare providers in evaluating the patient's allergic potential to specific airborne allergens and contributes to personalized allergy management plans.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided when collecting specimens for this test. Serum Separator Tube (SST) should be used for collection, and the serum must be separated from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection. Transfer the serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. The test includes multiple allergens specific to the mid-Atlantic region.
Limitations
The test measures allergen-specific IgE concentrations, which may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with allergens. A negative result does not rule out allergy or anaphylaxis, and results must be correlated with clinical history and exposure. Allergen results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L have undetermined clinical relevance and are intended for specialist interpretation.
