Special Instructions
Please ensure the serum is separated from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection. Use an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for serum transfer, with a minimum volume of 0.25 mL required. For orders involving multiple allergens, refer to ARUP's allergen specimen collection instructions.
Limitations
Allergen results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are for specialist interpretation as their clinical relevance is not determined. Increasing IgE concentrations may not always correlate with the clinical response to specific allergens or skin test results. Allergy laboratory results must be correlated with the patient's clinical history and in vivo reactivity to the respective allergens. A negative IgE result does not exclude the possibility of clinical allergy or even anaphylactic reactions.
