Use
This test measures the concentration of IgE antibodies specific to Mulberry Red Tree allergens in serum, using a quantitative method. It is intended to aid in the diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic conditions. The clinical relevance of results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L is undetermined and requires specialist input. In this range, although the IgE level is increasing, it may not correlate with clinical reactions or skin test results when exposed to the allergen.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure proper test results. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible, preferably within 2 hours of collection. Ensure the serum is transferred to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' for detailed guidance, especially for multiple allergen orders.
Limitations
Allergen results within the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L may not necessarily correlate with clinical allergies or anaphylaxis. Even results at higher concentrations might not mirror the degree of clinical response to the Mulberry Red Tree allergens in practical exposure scenarios. Thus, correlation with clinical history and in vivo reactivity is essential. This test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA and is intended for clinical purposes in a CLIA certified laboratory setting.
