Avoid multiple patient encounters for sample collection to minimize variability. Ensure proper sample handling by separating serum from cells as soon as possible and adhering to specified temperature conditions for storage and transport.
Limitations
The test measures walnut-specific IgE antibodies but does not quantify allergenic potential directly; clinical correlation is essential. Concentrations of IgE determined do not always correlate with the severity of allergic reaction or skin test results. The test may not detect recent anaphylaxis or rule out clinical allergy in cases with a negative result. Factors like hemolysis, icterus, or lipemia can affect the reliability of test results, leading to specimen rejection.
