Special Instructions
Patients should avoid multiple encounters or exposures to allergens prior to testing to prevent acute allergic responses. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection to ensure sample integrity. Minimum serum volume required is 0.25 mL. For tests involving multiple allergens, refer to the specific allergen specimen collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
Limitations
Despite the test's ability to detect IgE antibodies, allergen-specific IgE concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin test results. A negative result does not exclude the possibility of an allergy or anaphylactic reaction to Mugwort. Clinical relevance is undetermined for results within 0.10-0.34 kU/L, and further specialist interpretation may be necessary. Increasing IgE levels indicate higher sensitization but must be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history and exposure information.
