Use
This test evaluates specific IgE antibodies to a wide range of inhalant allergens, which can help diagnose allergies. Special Instructions
Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection to preserve sample integrity. Use the ARUP Standard Transport Tube for transfer after separation. Multiple encounters and specimen tubes should be avoided to prevent cross-contamination and ensure test accuracy.
Limitations
Allergen-specific IgE test results do not directly correlate with clinical symptoms, as various factors influence allergenic response. Negative results do not necessarily exclude the possibility of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. Concentrations may not correlate with skin test results when challenged with an allergen. It is essential to correlate laboratory results with the patient's clinical history and in vivo reactivity.
