Allergens, Inhalants/Foods, Comprehensive Profile 1
Also known as: COMP PAN
Use
This test measures the levels of specific IgE antibodies to a wide range of inhalant and food allergens using a quantitative ImmunoCAP Fluorescent Enzyme Immunoassay. The presence of allergen-specific IgE is used to identify sensitivity to various allergens, which may aid in diagnosing allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, and food allergies. The results of the test should be correlated with clinical history and symptoms.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Allergen-specific IgE levels detected in this test may not directly correlate with the degree of clinical response to the allergen or skin test results. A negative test does not rule out the possibility of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. Results between 0.10-0.34 kU/L should be interpreted with caution as their clinical relevance is undetermined; they are intended for specialist use. Correlation of laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity is essential for accurate interpretation.
