Special Instructions
Ensure adequate specimen volume for accurate allergen testing. Use only one specimen tube for collection to prevent sample contamination or volume loss. Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure consistency in test results.
Limitations
Results indicate allergen-specific IgE levels which reflect sensitivity; however, concentrations do not always correlate with symptom severity or skin test results. A negative result does not exclude the possibility of an allergy or anaphylactic reaction, and clinical correlation is essential. The nuances of IgE levels in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L require specialist interpretation as their clinical relevance remains indeterminate.
