Use
The test Allergens, Pediatric Allergy, March (Progression) Profile IgE identifies specific allergen sensitivities in pediatric patients. It aids in guiding the management and treatment plans by identifying allergens such as food proteins, animal dander, molds, and insect components that may cause allergic reactions. This test is particularly useful for diagnosing and monitoring allergy progression in children, providing insight into likely triggers for allergic symptoms.
Special Instructions
Please review the Specimen Collection and Handling Instructions to ensure adequate volume for allergen testing. The test requires a serum separator tube for specimen collection. Be sure to avoid multiple specimen tubes. Immediate separation of serum or plasma from cells is necessary for accurate testing.
Limitations
Allergen results of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as the clinical relevance is undetermined. Even though increasing ranges are reflective of increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE, these concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with a specific allergen. The correlation of allergy laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity is essential. A negative result does not rule out the possibility of clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. Some physical conditions of specimens like hemolysis, icterus, or lipemia may lead to rejection.
