Use
The Allergens, Pediatric Profile IgE test measures specific allergen-specific IgE antibodies to identify potential allergic sensitizations in pediatric patients. The test includes a panel of allergens commonly associated with pediatric allergies, such as certain foods, animal danders, and environmental allergens. The results can guide clinicians in allergy diagnosis and management by correlating laboratory findings with a patient's clinical history and in vivo reactions.
Special Instructions
Patient preparation includes avoiding multiple patient encounters during specimen collection to minimize variability in results. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible, ideally within 2 hours of collection, and transferred to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Limitations
The detection of allergen-specific IgE levels may not directly correlate with the severity of clinical allergic reactions or skin testing outcomes. Levels in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L have undetermined clinical relevance and may require specialist interpretation. A negative result does not exclude the possibility of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. The results must be correlated with clinical history and in vivo reactivity.
