Use
The Allergens, Upper Respiratory Disease Profile, Region 9A test is used to assess allergic reactions related to specific allergens prevalent in Upper Respiratory diseases. It quantitatively measures the concentration of allergen-specific IgE to help determine the likelihood of an IgE-mediated allergic reaction. The results assist healthcare professionals in evaluating potential allergies and planning appropriate management or treatment strategies based on a patient's clinical history and exposure to specific allergens.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided when collecting specimens for this test. Use a serum separator tube, and separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection. Store and transport specimens refrigerated.
Limitations
The presence of allergen-specific IgE does not always correlate with the severity of clinical symptoms. Allergen results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as the clinical relevance is undetermined. Clinical correlation with patient history and in vivo reactivity is essential for accurate diagnosis. A negative result does not rule out allergies or anaphylaxis, and hemolyzed, icteric or lipemic specimens are unacceptable.
