Antigen Testing, RBC Phenotype Extended
Also known as: IRL-EXPHEN
Use
This test aids in complicated antibody identification and predicts the common clinically significant red blood cell antibodies a patient can make. It is useful for bone marrow candidates, sickle cell patients, or in providing phenotypically matched RBCs in case of reactions like warm autoantibodies, if indicated.
Special Instructions
Test includes antigen typing for Rh phenotypes (D, C, E, c, e), K, k (as indicated), Fy(a), Fy(b), Jk(a), Jk(b), S, and s. The RH phenotype (D, C, c, E, e) will be added if not ordered or previously performed on this sample by ARUP Laboratories IRL. Additional charges apply.
Limitations
Unacceptable conditions include separator tubes. The stability of the specimen at room temperature is unacceptable. Mixed field reactivity may require testing to be performed using a pre-transfusion sample or a molecular test method.
