Use
This test determines in vitro susceptibility to antimicrobial agents for nonfermenting gram negative bacterial organisms. Susceptibility testing helps guide effective treatment plans by determining whether bacterial isolates are susceptible, intermediate, or resistant to specific antimicrobial agents. It is crucial for managing infections caused by nonfermenting gram-negative rods such as Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas species.
Special Instructions
The test panel includes testing for various nonfermenting gram negative rods. Specimen must be submitted in pure culture, otherwise additional processing fees apply. Species identification must be provided or will be performed at ARUP at an additional cost.
Limitations
The susceptibility testing is performed using broth microdilution with custom-made MIC panels, following CLSI guidelines. Susceptibility results should be interpreted alongside clinical presentation, and non-standardized methodologies may affect the results. Mixed cultures or non-viable organisms cannot be tested.
