BCL2
Use
BCL2 is a member of a family of proteins involved in apoptosis with wide tissue distribution. In 90% of follicular lymphomas, a translocation occurs which juxtaposes the BCL2 gene at 18q21 to an immunoglobulin gene. This t(14;18) translocation can deregulate gene expression and results in BCL2 overexpression, which can be detected via IHC.

Limitations
Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus. All other fixatives will be rejected. Fresh tissue should be at a 20:1 fixative to tissue ratio, with 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) for 6-72 hours (48-72 hours preferred).

Collection Instructions
Fixative should be at a 20:1 fixative to tissue ratio, 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) for 6-72 hours (48-72 hours PREFERRED).
Storage Instructions
Fresh Tissues: AMBIENT, use a refrigerated (NOT FROZEN) gel pack in the shipment to protect from extreme temperatures. Separate gel pack from specimen.
Causes for Rejection
