Beta Amyloid Protein by Immunohistochemistry

Use
This tissue‐based immunohistochemical stain detects beta amyloid protein within formalin‐fixed, paraffin‐embedded tissue specimens (including cellblocks). It is used by pathologists to assess presence and distribution of beta amyloid protein in tissue for diagnostic purposes.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a stain and return (technical) service only. Ordering recommendations reference the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure available via ARUP. Aliases include B‑BMY. Component test codes (3002730 for BAmyloid Protein by IHC and 3002731 for Beta Amyloid Protein Reference Number) are listed but cannot be used to order the test.
Limitations
Specimens with nonrepresentative tissue or depleted specimens are unacceptable. Precautions include avoiding excessive heat on paraffin block or slides and not oven baking precut slides. Slides must be at least 3–5 µm thick, minimum 2 slides, and unstained positively charged slides or tissue block must be provided. Frozen specimens are unacceptable.

Collection Instructions
Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat. Provide either tissue block or 5 unstained (3‑ to 5‑micron) positively charged slides, minimum 2 slides; do not oven bake precut slides.
