Use
The Boron Quantitative test measures the concentration of boron in serum or plasma. It is utilized for monitoring possible environmental exposure or toxicity as well as for nutritional and metabolic studies. Elevated levels may occur from environmental contamination during collection, hence it is crucial to use certified metal-free collection methods.
Special Instructions
Ensure that specimens are collected in certified metal-free containers to prevent contamination. After collection, serum or plasma should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer the sample to an Acid Washed Transfer Vial.
Limitations
This test is not cleared or approved by the FDA and may be affected by environmental contamination, which can lead to elevated results. Unexpected high results should be verified with a new specimen collected in a trace metal-free container. Polymer gel separation tubes such as SST or PST are unacceptable for this test.
