Caldesmon
Use
Caldesmon is a regulatory protein found in smooth muscle and tissues, interacting with actin, myosin, tropomyosin and calmodulin. Detection by immunohistochemistry aids in identifying smooth muscle differentiation as well as tumors with smooth muscle, myofibroblastic, and myoepithelial characteristics. It is also clinically useful in distinguishing epithelioid mesothelioma from serous papillary carcinoma of the ovary.
