CD2 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
CD2 immunostaining is used to determine T-cell lineage in cases of T-cell lymphoma. CD2 is a pan T-cell antigen expressed on normal and neoplastic T cells and natural killer cells, making it useful in diagnosing T-cell origin disorders.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the stains will be canceled, and processing will be at the reviewing pathologist's discretion with an additional charge.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. Interpretation should be performed in the context of the patient's clinical history. Stability of paraffin sections can affect immunoreactivity. Best practice is for sections to be cut within 6 weeks. Environmental factors affecting slides, such as humidity and heat, should be minimized.
