Use
This test is useful for evaluating the recipient cells prior to a bone marrow transplant. Limitations
The sensitivity of this test varies with the proportion of donor and recipient cells present. Results are approximate and rounded to the nearest 5% or 10%. Identical STR patterns in matched related stem cell transplants may result in non-informative chimeric status, necessitating alternative approaches like fluorescence in situ hybridization for detection.
