Use

E-Cadherin by Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is used primarily in the evaluation of epithelial cell adhesion and differentiation. The test detects E-cadherin, a protein that is part of the cadherin superfamily, which is involved in calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Loss or reduction of E-cadherin expression is associated with various types of carcinomas, including lobular breast carcinoma and diffuse gastric cancer, making it an important biomarker in the diagnostic assessment of cancer progression and prognosis.

Collection Instructions

Formalin fix (10 percent neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin embed specimen (cells must be prepared into a cellblock). Transport tissue block or slides using a tissue transport kit.
