Use
The Fibrinogen Evaluation Profile is a comprehensive test used to assess the fibrinogen components of the coagulation pathway. It includes evaluations of fibrinogen activity and antigen levels, as well as a thrombin mixing study. This profile aids in diagnosing and monitoring conditions associated with abnormal blood clotting, such as disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and liver disease, and can help guide therapeutic interventions.
Special Instructions
Ensure that blood samples are collected in blue-top tubes containing 3.2% buffered sodium citrate, and mixed well for accurate testing. Samples should be double-centrifuged and frozen immediately to avoid degradation. Separate frozen specimens are required for each requested test to prevent processing delays.
Limitations
Due to the specificity of the test, it may not detect minor fibrinogen abnormalities or distinguish between acquired and hereditary fibrinogen deficiencies. Additionally, improper sample handling, such as inadequate mixing or failure to freeze, can compromise results. Interfering substances in the blood may impact the accuracy of the assays.

Collection Instructions
Citrated plasma samples should be collected by double centrifugation. Blood should be collected in a blue-top tube containing 3.2% buffered sodium citrate. Ensure proper mixing and freeze immediately.

Do not draw from an arm with a heparin lock or heparinized catheter.
Storage Instructions
Freeze immediately and maintain frozen until tested.
