Ficus Species (k81) IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
Ficus benjamina (Fb) is a tropical non‑flowering plant used ornamentally in homes and public places. Allergens are located in the sap and in dust collected from leaf surfaces and floors, where they can persist for several months after plant removal. Sensitization is likely via inhalation of airborne dust from leaves. Non‑atopic patients have developed allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, contact urticaria, and asthma caused by Fb. A frequent association with natural rubber latex allergy has been attributed to cross‑reacting IgE antibodies.
