Use
The Follicle-stimulating Hormone (FSH) test is used to evaluate fertility issues in both men and women. FSH levels help in understanding whether the hormone regulation in the body is functioning well by checking the levels during different phases of the menstrual cycle in women and overall production level in men.
Special Instructions
Patients should be advised to cease consumption of biotin supplements at least 72 hours before sample collection for this test, as high doses of biotin can interfere with the test results and cause inaccuracies.
Limitations
The test may produce inaccurate results if the patient is consuming biotin supplements. Additionally, variations in the timing of sample collection related to the menstrual cycle phases can impact the interpretation of results. The menstrual cycle phase references are specific to adult females. The test does not diagnose conditions but is used as an aid in evaluating hormonal balance.
